Go buy the Wild Sweet Orange album "We have cause to be uneasy" right now! They are out of Birmingham-amazing talent. The band was on Letterman about a month ago. If you like music that has meaning, amazing lyrics, comes from the heart, doesn't sound like Miley Cyrus, you'll love them. Seriously, I am excited about this album...I'm only half way through my first listen and it has already trumped the new Coldplay album as my favorite of the summer! These guys are going to be big time with this album. Hope you enjoy!

The BIG C! It hits hard. Here on DemopolisLive, we even have one of our family members going through it. A really good friend of mine in Birmingham has it and has it bad. My husbands Aunt recently found out she has breast cancer. They found it soon and were able to remove it without a mastectomy, but she still has to go through chemo and radiation. Back to my friend in Birmingham, it has hit me hard. We were friends all through highschool. He and his brother all but lived at my house. We watched Dazed and Confused, Empire Records, and countless other movies countless times. He always had the coolest music, I'll never forget Da-Da-Da....He had a computer before computers were cool to have. He was a dork just like me and my sister and all our dorky friends. We weren't the coolest kids, but dang we knew how to have fun and do it without getting into trouble.
I've never had a friend find out they have cancer. Older family members yes, but not a friend. He starts 9 weeks of very intensive chemo today. Please remember him when you say your prayers. I know he'll be able to feel all the prayers even if he doesn't know where they are coming from.

I listen to a local radio show and by local I mean one from the state of Alabama. Reg's Coffee House, which airs on Sundays from 10-1 on 94.5fm is AWESOME. Alot of the music I blog about I hear on Reg's show. He has an impecable ear for music and has discovered quite a few stars. He is an advocate for the Record Store, a place where you can go buy your music in CD or Album form. Something that is being lost in this day and age of digital downloads. Now I will be the first to admit, I now get most of my music in digital form, but I still have to buy CD's of some of my favorite artists. This is a video Reg had on his weekly blog for the new Drykah Badu single "Honey". I think it is a great tribute to the Record Store.

Oh and for those who have seen "Empire Records", Damn the man, Save the Empire!!!!! If you haven't seen "Empire Records" it is a movie that came out about 10 years ago about these kids and there jobs/life at a record store. Pretty dang cool and quotable movie, with a really cool soundtrack! Also, it was one of Renee Zwelleger(sp) first movies.....Kinda like "Dazed and Confused was Matther McCounaghey(sp) first movie!

I cooked a roast for the first time today. Put it, some carrots, new potatoes, onions, cloves of garlic, a seasoning packet in the crockpot this morning and came home to a house that made me remember Sundays. My Mom always put a roast in the crockpot for Sunday afternoon lunch. It was always really good! Mine was pretty darn good too. Cooked some green beans, corn, and rolls along with it and had a nice bottle of pinot grigio(yes for you wine snobs I know I should have had a red with roast, but I drink what I like). I am kinda proud of myself. Every now and then I feel like a "grown-up". I know I am almost 29, but I still don't feel it. Oh well, gonna go watch Ghostbusters on VH1(something else that makes me think of home and being a kid).
