It is so hard for a parent to sit back and see their children go through difficult situations. We have one child who is determined to throw his life away, no matter how hard everyone else tries to help him. So now we have retreated to tough love. I put it in God's hands and pray every night he will see the light.
One the other side we have a child struggling every day just to be normal and live. At times I truely struggle with the weight on my shoulders. Then I look into Nickolas' sweet face and know I must keep up the strong front. It will be a blessing if we get any help with him, but if we don't then things will continue as it has.
I know we are not the only parents who have gone through simular situations, but you still feel isolated. What will be will be. Knowing you did the right things; although no one is perfect, mistakes are made; helps in dealing with it.

I have come across three groups of women who take their time to make things to help families in need or going thru a hard time. And I would like to share the information and would like to know if anyone would be interested in starting something like that in this area. If there is, please let me know or if you are interested in getting one started just holler.
#1 Home of the Brave Quilters Project, this group makes quilts for fallen soldiers from Alabama, Georgia, or Tennessee and give to a family member in honor of the soldiers. Contact person is Jo Reid (256) 256-2442 or
joreid@charter.net or

#2 Was a quilting group that made a quilt for Jeremy Slawson. He is total dependent on his mother and they live in Mississippi on $700 a month in a tiny trailer that is not handicap-accessible.
A member has helped the family and they have set up a fund for them at Jeremy Slawson House, Magnolia State Hope Fund, P.O. Box 508, Bay Springs, MS 39422 to read more about this go to

#3 This group makes baby blankets or clothes and takes them to the NICU at CHS in Birmingham. I think it is called The Threads of Love. I can't lay my hands on their card at this moment.
