We struggle....
Each day we are pushed to our limits, like I do..... on my computer when I try to do a simple function using dial up...
I start with great intentions....I get excited and can't wait to begin.
I point, click, ponder, wonder, bite nails, scratch my head, get comfy in my out-dated desk chair and sometimes get out a bag of chocolate chips.
Just as the thought flickered in my little mind and it has lit a flame of creativity.....it happens.
my Dial up service takes over and says..."I don't think so".
The fact becomes oh so clear.....this wasn't a well thought out plan.
So I give up....put the Keeblers back in the cabinet, check my yahoo mail, and click the internet off for the evening.
I hate giving up...but I know when I'm licked....and until DSL is available to me where I live....I will have to settle....yes settle.
The good news is...it's only a computer...it's only a web site....it's only a video I didn't get to see.
There is a member and a friend on Demopolis live who struggles everyday with a much bigger download issue...
Depression is her voice say'n..."I don't think so."
Yet....she is an amazing lady....her profile reflects that...
I wish I could have voted more than once....there are some creative designers on here....but Who-ville...is....and was a struggle.
She never let anything side track her mission.
I can only imagine the smile she has had on her face since she has seen how many people made nice comments and actually voted for her profile as their favorite.
I struggled to see everyone's profile....I struggled to decide who deserves to win....I struggle.....let me rephrase that...I may have been in a quandry...but Struggle....I don't think so...
That word belongs to those on here that really do....I'm just a wimp...lol...I guess.
The winner of this contest.....will get a prize....the real winners on Demopolis Live are the ones that......know that just getting up each day and hitting life head on...is a prize.

Take Care Kristin,
Your friend....Sammy who......

Sitting on the bank, by the water fall....
That's where I do my best thinking of all.
Watching the water.....
Going over the edge.

I can't help but think of you....
and all the things that we went thru.
Just before.....
You went over the edge.

I thought everything was fine...
Boy how could I've been so blind?
I never saw you.....
Looking over the edge.

I would have surely lent a hand...
If you'ld help me understand.
That you felt like....
You were going over the edge.

Chourus:

I saw you lying in bed.....
I heard you cry....
I know you never said....
I always wondered why....

I felt you slip'n away....
but I never saw the ledge.....
I wake up in a cold sweat.....think'n of you....
Going over the edge

There you are with a whole new life....
I'll tell him...."man you have a beauiful wife."
He better not push you.......
Over the edge.

If you ever fall from grace....
I'll be firmly stood in place.....
Arms reached out....
Looking up at the edge.

Here I sit by the water fall....
Hope'n to God, you never call...
I can't stand the thought...
Of you going over the edge.

As for me, I'm fine so far....
Sitting on the bank with my guitar....
just a few feet away....
From going over my own edge.

In a previous blog.....I told the story of my mom.....chasing a little boy off a bridge......
He grew up to become a Country Music Star......and on National T.V....he told the public he grew up in a different neighborhood.....ashamed to admit he grew up in a "Mill Village"
Well....I found out yesterday...after talking to my MOM.....
The infamous bridge.....(16th Street Bridge)...was renamed...
"The Billy Crash Craddock Bridge"
This is just wrong.....and my mama is appauled....
Oh well....in the scheme of things...this is a very small issue....
I just wanted to update.....incase you see on CNN....."Grandmother slaps Country music singer up side his water melon head...... at Winn-Dixie"....lol
I do know for a fact...if she see's him in town...she will at least tell him off.....lol

Sometimes....I get a few minutes at works.....not often....to myself.
Today, I went online and clicked on YouTube.
Not looking for anything in particular...I decided to type, in the search video box, my home town's name...
There I saw many videos of the Mall in which I more or less grew up in....
It opened in '76.....I was about 14.....
When it opened.....I was blown away, A mall near my house...on my side of town.
We couldn't complain anymore about not ever get'n anything good near us...
My sister and her husband ran the..."Carmel Korn"...place...man was that some good stuff.....(Freebies for baby brother)
Next door was the Game room....and major hang out......(babe watch central)
But bestest of all....across from all that....(in the mall mind you)...was an Ice Skating Rink)
At 14......it was just the thing to do...on Friday night.....Sit by the rink....people watch......and meet lots of new people.
My Sister's room mate was the Rinks manager......so some summer nights....we would hit the ice after hours and play broom hockey....or also refered to as...."Crazy Midnight Mall Brawl"....lol
The resturant next door to the ice had a balcony over looking the skaters.....I knew someday.....me and my date would be up there.....eating and enjoying the view.....man....to be soooo young and have dreams.
Well....I finally got up enough nerve and money....and I did the date thing......it was all that...and more......my friends even saw me....lol
I got my Camero when I was 18....and first thing I did..was cruised the mall's parking lot.......Crager SS rims....with a mirror shine......strategically parked.....
I spent many a dollar at the record store there....and talked about someday.....there will be nothing but cassettes in the store.......lol
Played many a guitar at the music store.......the closer it was till closing time..the louder we could get........Yet again..I dreamed...someday..I could afford that Gibson I held in my hands......
The Video I saw today was.....that mall.....my stomping grounds....my place to dream..was being demolished.......to make room for a Super Dooper Sprawl Mart.....
It was sad to see it....I have been away from my home town many years..and knew it was gone....but it hurt to see it with my own eyes......
I have many memories of that place....I even met cool people...even some celeberties......I shook the hand of Mark Mosely......(Kicked the winning field goal to win the Super bowl)....
Now who can you meet at wally world?
Anyway......Carolina Circle Mall....I miss you.....Thanx for the memories...and the chance to dream a little....

Sitting on the couch, me and Tee, flipping thru channels.
Remote firmly placed in hand, thumb never missing a beat, Directv....sooo many channels and I have to hit them all...lol
I came across the RFD Channel....Info in the left corner said, "POP GOES THE COUNTRY..and tonights guess are"....I had to stop.
I love retro anything, especial music videos and old shows.
I stopped and watched a few minutes, Tee closed her eyes..it was getting late.
I heard Ralph Emory introduce the guests he had lined up and I recognized all of them from the 70's...One really rung a bell...
I nudged Tee.....she half way opened her eyes..and acted like she heard what I was saying.....
She turned her head and cut her eyes toward me...then it happened...the purfect cartoon double take you ever saw...lol
She couldn't believe what I just said to her.......she knew she had to be still asleep.
She perked up...sat straight..and was all ears......she said..."You have to tell me that story"..lol
The thing I said to her to get that reaction..was....."Hey, That Country music Star that my Mama beat up is on T.V.!"....
I really thought I told her about that along time ago....
Ya see....When my mama grew up, in the mill village in NC.....Families looked after each other.
You mess with one family member...you take on the whole Family....
Mama was about 8, when the Craddock family was coming over the bridge, to talk to someone about something that happened at school.
Seeing the group approach the bridge....my Mama and her brothers and sisters headed them off..and met on the crest of the 16th street bridge, and words started flying.
Kids will be kids....and pushing and shoving started....my mama...joined in..and started after little Billy....the Craddocks high tailed it....back home.....I can see my mama now doing a Victory dance.
Billy grew up and became the group..."ALABAMA"s first manager,..and later recorded a record that went number 1.....a song called...."RUB IT IN".
It was later used by Coppertone in suntan lotion commercials.
His name is Billy "Crash" Craddock.
He was on the "Nashville Now" show in the 80's telling America how he got his nickname...Crash.
He said it was because he played High School football..and crashed thru tacklers on his way to the goal line.
The truth is....my Uncle played football on his team.....and he told me he got that nickname because he got hit in the head with the football once....and sat down and cried......
I guess that wouldn't do much for his image in Nashville...so he had to come up with something better...lol
We always wished him the best of luck with his career..,,but wished he would have been more honest about his past...he even lied about where he was from on national television.
I always say...never burn your bridges....even the ones my mama kicked your butt on...lol
Now Tee never knows what I am going to say next.....I love telling this story.
